Getting Your New Business Off the Ground

Starting a business is exciting, but it’s easy to miss something important when there’s a hundred things to think about at once. Breaking it down into a few clear areas makes it far less overwhelming.

The basics to get sorted

  • Is there demand? Talk to real potential customers before you spend serious money, not just friends and family who’ll tell you what you want to hear.
  • Can you afford it? Know roughly what it’ll cost to get going and how long you can run before you need to be profitable.
  • Are you set up legally? Business structure, registrations, licences and insurance — better sorted early than scrambled together later.
  • Who else is doing this? A quick look at your competitors tells you what customers already expect, and where you could do better.
  • How will people actually buy from you? Website, shopfront, marketplace — decide early so the rest of your setup can support it.

Take it one step at a time

You don’t need every box ticked before you start — but you do want to know which ones you’re choosing to leave for later, rather than forgetting about them entirely. We’re happy to help you work through the financial side of this before you commit.
